the plague of thin-security

today as i rode the train home with my mom, we flipped through the pages of my favorite magazine. there was a feature on wardrobe_remix and my mother mentioned, “you notice that all the girls are skinny.” now, i would never ever discriminate against my slender sisters (every body is beautiful), but it was true. there wasn’t a big-boned girl in the bunch.

this reminded me of when i snuck into fashion week this past spring. two photographers were lurking around and gave my friend and i the once-over, mumbled something to each other, about to take our pictures, until one shook her head. they walked away. maybe it was my own paranoia, but i sincerely felt the looks go straight to my thighs like a piece of chocolate cake. i understand that thin girls have their problems finding clothing just as much as curvier girls do, but no one can deny that the girls recognized on the blogs and in the magazines for having great personal style are almost, if not always, thinner than the majority.

maybe i’ll incite a riot by this post. i’ve never done that before. the point is that i can be just as stylish as a girl half my size. this isn’t necessarily personal, but i do find it to be unfair.
