to celebration of the 70th anniversary of the wizard of oz, twenty renowned fashion designers have volunteered to create their own version of the infamous ruby slipper. the heels will be auctioned off next fall [2009], with proceeds benefiting the elizabeth glaser pediatric aids foundation.

participating designers include betsey johnson, jimmy choo, manolo blahnik, and diane von furstenberg, and two pairs of each shoe will be produced. they will be on display in bryant park throughout that year.
